2026 Summer School Information
Parkland School District will be offering a summer school program for middle and high school students (grades 6-12) who have failed courses during the regular school year. Successful completion can lead to grade promotion and provides a stronger foundation for the upcoming term.
Important Dates & Times
- Duration: Monday, June 22 – Thursday, July 30, 2026.
- Weekly Schedule: Monday through Thursday.
- Holiday: No classes on Monday, July 6 for Independence Day.
- FINAL DEADLINE: All work must be completed by 11:30 AM on Thursday, July 30, 2026. No exceptions will be made.
Expectations & Requirements
- Course Load: Students are limited to a maximum of two subjects.
- Program Purpose: Summer school is for credit recovery only.
- Grading Policy: The highest grade a student can earn in any summer school course is 60%.
- Subjects Available: English, History, Mathematics, Science, and Physical Education (No electives).
- Time Commitment: Each class requires more than 1 hour of work per day. Work must be completed outside of "class hours" to pass.
- Weekly Goals: Students must complete at least 1/6 of the course load each week.
- Early Completion: Once the required work is completed, summer school will be over. Many students complete all required work prior to the last day of summer school.
Attendance & Dismissal Policy
- Early Progress: Students showing inadequate interest or progress within the first 5 days will be dropped.
- Missing Work: Accumulating three days of missing work will trigger a meeting with the administrator for possible dismissal without reimbursement.
- Absences: Extended absences require prior approval from an administrator and a parent note sent to Mr. Monahan or Mr. Sherman.
Tuition & Registration
- Standard Cost: $290 per class.
- Reduced Rate: $180 per class for students with free or reduced lunch.
- Payment: Payable via check to "Parkland High School". There is a $25 fee for returned checks. No refunds will be issued.
- Registration Deadline: Registration is online only via Google Forms until Wednesday, June 17 at 3:00 pm.
- Login Info: Confirmation and login details will be emailed to the student by June 21, 2026.
